ALE Chapter 5 - Look Into My Eyes

"I do have a theory about your eyes, but it's just a theory and it doesn't have much to do with any possible...power.'

...'Bella? May I try something?' Carlisle seemed hesitant and looked at Edward.

'Of course,' I said simply. Edward was watching me closely; of course he knew everything Carlisle was thinking. I hated to feel so left out of the process. I glanced at Esme. She looked much calmer than I felt' of course she would be more used to their constant silent communication than I was. With a start I realized how well Carlisle and Edward must know each other. I suddenly felt very young.

...I felt all their eyes on me. After a few moments I felt a slight twinge in my chest. Inadvertently, my eyes shot to Carlisle, knowing he was doing something. 'Carlisle?' I asked. 'What are you doing?'

'Did you feel something?' Carlisle asked me, his voice level.

'Yes. A slight twinge in my chest.' I answered honestly.

...Edward looked at Carlisle and then they both turned to look at me. 'More. Something else.' Carlisle whispered to Edward. Edward caught my gaze again, and within a moment I flew back against the back wall of the cabin. I hadn't jumped. I felt as though I had been pushed, but not by anyone in the room. I gaped at them.

'What. Is. Going. On. What pushed me?' I growled getting angry that I wasn't let in on the secret....'Edward...' I growled. 'Will you please explain what the fuck you are talking about?'...

...He looked at me. 'Bella, you seemed to have sensed my anguish enough to mutter a response while you were changing. You weren't looking at me then.'

Carlisle nodded. 'Yes, Bella, that level of control during a transformation...it's almost unheard of.'

I considered this, but it didn't quite feel right.' What if it wasn't the magnitude of my control that is 'unheard of', but rather the magnitude of Edward's need to know that I was okay? What if he needed me to be okay badly enough that it pushed through whatever else I was experiencing? What if my response is dictated by the...magnitude of what someone else is needing...and eye contact just makes it stronger?

Princess Bride

"We all sat in silence for awhile, knowing that we hadn't entirely captured it and probably wouldn't without more time. I needed to think. I needed something mindless.

As if reading my mind, Esme said quietly, 'Well, what I need is some snuggles with my daughter on the couch. Movie time, Bella?'

I nodded, relieved to give my brain time to process it all. 'Definitely.'

...Esme and I curled up on the couch, snuggling, watching The Princess Bride, and agreeing it was one of the best movies of all time.

We both sighed when Wesley promised Buttercup he would always come for her.

'Is this a kissing movie?' Edward teased. I looked up at him, surprised. Was it a play on words? Did he know every line of this movie too? Be still my heart.

Esme should have scolded Bella for saying fuck, she does everyone else. hahaha But, Bella is the baby in the family and we all know that the baby in the family always gets away with a lot more. I was comforted by Esme and Bella watching the movie for some reason. It was like Bella was giving Esme something that she always wanted and needed a more mother daughter bond. WOW, you made me feel that! When Bella smelled a human for the first time ever as a vampire, OMG I was stock still reading frantically to find out how she would handle herself. Amazing! She controlled herself just like I invisioned she could/would. These few lines turned on the light bulb inside my brain telling me that Bella could feel more physically than what I thought, "trembling from the excruciating pain. “She’s broken. Her wrist…it’s broken.” BRILLIANT, making me feel the depth of the situation. Now, a special place in my heart Bella and Jasper. What does Jasper need from Bella? I'm still thinking about this one. I'm sure you won't disappoint me when the time comes. Why is Edward looking at Bella and sending vibs to her? "feeling Edward’s worried eyes watching me leave." I am soo curious to find out. WOW, this chapter was so worth the wait."
